The Palace of Fine Arts located in the Marina District in San Francisco and is across the street from Crissy Fields. The Palace of Fine Arts is a Greek Style theatre originally built in 1915 and is the perfect place to catch a show as well as take a stroll along the lagoon. The Palace of Fine Arts also makes a great location to have a photoshoot, as many people often do. The venue is available to rent for parties, weddings, and more! Check out their website here to read more or keep reading below to read about my experience here!
Parking on the street is free and there is also a small parking lot in front of the theatre. If either one of those options isn’t available, you’ll have to pay for parking on the right side of the theatre. If you aren’t visiting the actual theatre itself, then you won’t have access to the restrooms. If you do need to use these facilities, you’ll have to go across the street to Crissy Fields. There are many benches to sit on or bring a blanket and enjoy the well-kept grass.
If you are planning a trip to The Palace of the Arts, I recommend adding a few more stops to your destination such as Crissy Fields, Lover’s Lane at the Presidio, and the Lyon Street Steps. All these attractions are nearby and will make for a great day of sightseeing some of the cities less crowded areas.
If you are looking for a peaceful, outdoor space to enjoy lunch or catch up with a friend, The Palace of Fine Arts is the place to do so when you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area. My family and I have been here on a few occasions to take some photos but we also enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t overly crowded. Keep in mind that the area is not that big so if you’re planning to hast family events here, I would recommend going across the street to Crissy Fields.
