The coast of California is known for its beautiful beaches and breathtaking views. You can’t go wrong with visiting any of the many beaches along the coast but I’m here to break down Pacifica State Beach in Pacifica, California. Pacific State Beach, also known as Linda Mar Beach, is just about 20 minutes south of San Francisco and is tucked in the quaint community of Pacifica. It is mainly visited by locals so you won’t find it to be too crowded.
The address is 5000 Pacific Coast Highway and is directly across the street from a shopping center. There is a parking lot right in front of the beach and it costs $7.00 for 4 hours or less and $9.00 all day. I would not recommend parking in the nearby parking lots of the shopping centers as they actively tow anyone that is not shopping in the shopping center. The beach is open from dawn to dusk and it is free to enter…as it should be.
The beach is mostly flat. In fact, after you park, you are maybe just a hundred or so feet away from the water. With that being said, I would leave strollers and wheelchairs in the car if possible as the parking lot is the only smooth concrete surface, after that, you’re in the sand.
There is a restroom and washing station to rinse off after your day in the sun. There aren’t any benches or picnic tables so be sure to bring a blanket if you don’t want to sit in the hot sand. Dogs are allowed at the beach as long as they have a leash. There are no bonfires, BBQ grills, or alcohol consumption allowed at the beach.
As mentioned previously, the beach is located near a shopping center and grocery stores so there’s no need to worry if you didn’t bring any food or water!
The beach itself is fairly small, and only maybe two miles or so is accessible. There are many surfers and Pacifica State Beach also hosts various surf camps. The beach is very family-friendly and you’ll find many children and their families enjoying a beach day and picnics in the sand. At this beach, you’ll enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean, beautiful homes directly adjacent to the beach, and lively wildlife. This is the perfect destination to add to a California Coastal road trip!
Gotta love the beach life!
