The New Orleans Botanical Gardens is located inside City Park at 5 Victory Ave, New Orleans, LA. Admission for adults is $10. Children over 3 years old are $5 and under 3 years old are free to enter. Also, if you’re a Louisiana resident, on Wednesdays, you’ll get in free! There is plenty of free parking in front, restrooms throughout the gardens, and a gift shop.
The Botanical Garden is full of over 2,000 plants from all over the world. There is a modest Japanese garden, a butterfly walk, a rose garden, greenhouses, and so much more. There is also a huge outdoor kitchen where a chef prepares fresh, healthy meals every Wednesday! They also host cooking events and classes there!
If you’re a nature enthusiast, you’ll be in heaven! There are so many different flowers, plants, and trees to enjoy. And since the Botanical Gardens is a 10-acre site, you can easily spend a few hours there and even have a picnic! Another bonus of the Botanical Gardens being 10-acres is that it doesn’t feel overcrowded with people. In fact, when I was visiting, I rarely saw any people at all! You can really take your time and literally smell the roses.
The New Orleans Botanical Gardens makes the perfect backdrop for your nature-themed photos. Being the nature lover that I am, I of course had to get a few pictures in. There is an ample amount of shade, thanks to the oak trees and archways, so harsh lighting on a sunny day wasn’t a concern during the photoshoot. However, If you plan on doing a commercial photoshoot or videography, there is a fee of $50 per session.
Overall, I would recommend the New Orleans Botanical Gardens if you’re passing by and love being outdoors. This was a great addition to my trip to New Orleans!
