You’ve probably seen pictures of colorful houses along the beach on social media. These houses are actually rentable beach homes! They make for great photo ops that are definitely iconic to Capitola. 

Visit The Beach And Wharf

Capitola is like a mini Santa Cruz without the crowds! The beach has just enough space to enjoy a fun day in the sun. You can also walk on the wharf and enjoy even more views of the Monterey Bay.

Eat At Restaurants With Ocean Views

There are a few restaurants that offer views of Monterey Bay and other restaurants nearby where you can order to-go and eat your food on the beach. 

Wharf House: Directly on the wharf of the beach, this seafood restaurant offers live music and great views!

Sotola Bar & Grill: This American food restaurant offers great views of the colorful Venitian homes and views of the western part of Capitola Beach.

Margaritaville: A Mexican and Seafood restaurant that offers similar views of Sotola Bar & Grill. 

The Sand Bar: American food with live music and a bar. The outdoor seating also allows for views of the beach. 

My Thai Beach Restaurant Capitola: Thai food that offers some window seats to see views of the ocean but no outdoor seating. 

Zelda’s On The Beach: American food with ample amount of outdoor seating to enjoy the sunset! 

Tacos Moreno 3: Mexican food for your taco fix. They only have a couple of outdoor tables. This is the las restaurant with views directly in front of Capitola Beach.

Walk Along Soquel Creek

This creek has many beautiful homes to admire and a bridge that was once used for trains.

Visit Esplanade Park

Take a stroll through Esplanade Park and admire the beautiful Cypress Trees with the Monterey Bay in the background. The park is located adjacent to the beach and is a small park to take a quick walk in if sand isn’t your thing. 

There are also free concerts here in the Summer!

The Santa Cruz Children’s Museum of Discovery

This museum is great to take your kids to burn some energy. It is located inside the Capitola Mall, the museum is closed on Tuesdays and most holidays. Admission for children 1-17 years old is $6 and $9 for adults. 

Stroll The Village

There are so many unique shops and even art galleries to check out in the village. Capitola really has that small-town feel and everyone is so friendly!

Enjoy some local wine and unwind! Here are a few wine tasting places to check out when you visit Capitola.

Capitola is definitely a unique town to visit if you’re near the Monterey Bay! You can easily enjoy most of what this town has to offer in one day or spend a peaceful and relaxing weekend here.
